Our morning was pretty boring compared to the rest of the group. We played on the bed a lot and got lots of smiles from little man. We have been feeding YuanYuan in the room as much as possible because he seems to get overwhelmed otherwise, but this morning we had to take him with us to breakfast because Aaron was gone (Aaron and I are the only ones holding, feeding, changing him for attachment reasons). He surprised us by doing very well at breakfast and even ate some soggy rice krispies cereal! Later, back in the room, he and I played with his toys and he actually copied me. I put a toy on my head and he tried to put it on his. This may not sound like a big deal, but this precious child could hardly hold a toy 4 days ago. We are celebrating each little step and every bit of progress that he is making. It is amazing how love and attention can change a child. We haven't done anything to help his physical heart, all we have done is show him love...and each day he is getting stronger and acquiring new skills. Every child deserves this kind of love. It is literally life changing. I am so thankful God called us to be this child's parents. He is changing us as much as we are changing him. Praise be to God.
YuanYuan has laughed and cried, but other than that he has not made any other sounds...until today. Just a few times, he made another sound that would be considered baby babble. This was a blessing to hear.
Tonight, the group went separate ways again. Aaron took YouYou, my mom and his parents to a famous dumpling restaurant and a show while I stayed back at the hotel with the boys. Carter and Jackson entertained their new brother and had him giggling, throwing a ball, and playing cards! This little guy is changing my big boys as well. They have always loved children, but they are forming a very special bond with their new brother. They have also been very concerned about him and it has led them to pray often. Some people say they don't want to adopt because of the fear of what it might do to their current children. This child is teaching my children to trust Him more. Adoption is having a life changing affect on them as they witness their little brothers transformation.
That is all I have for now. There is a a little boy snoozing in the bed with me and I am ready to join in the slumber. Love to you all and good night from China!
