China Day 2 (part 2)

After our visit to The Forbidden City, Angela took us to a restaurant for the most delicious lunch. We all attempted to eat with chopsticks, some of us more successfully than others.

Then it was off to the wall!! Angela took us to a very unique section of the wall, which was almost 2 hours away. The drive was fascinating though because we got to see some Chinese suburbs, the countryside, and the mountains.

I can't say for sure yet bc this is only day 2 of 21, but besides getting our children this might be the highlight of the trip. Again, words and simple pictures cannot do it justice.

This first picture is at the entrance. Don't worry, Aaron isn't bloated :) That is his money necklace thingie making him look like he has a belly :)

We took a ski lift up to a section of the Great Wall. I had to remind myself to breathe!

We walked around the wall, experienced the uneven steps, increased our thigh muscles, and were amazed at the wonder of it all!

The boys hiked up and down every thing you see here, and more. YouYou and I almost made it that far too, but I have more pictures of her bc she was a little slower :)

To get down from this section of the wall, we got to take a little ride :)

This was so super fun! You get to control the speed of the ride with that thing sticking up between our legs. This is all good, until you allow your 6 year old fearless daughter to control it while you video and she doesn't listen to your warnings to slow down and not hit Poppa in front of us! That girl of mine! She actually pinched her leg after we bumped into Papa bc she finally slammed down the brake thing. There was about 2 minutes of tears and loud cries, but no blood, so the result was a good discussion of the consequences of our sin :)

One last picture and I must try to sleep!

We go to the Temple of Heaven tomorrow morning then take a train to Xi'an tomorrow afternoon. This is why we came...to meet these children! I can't believe in 2 more sleeps I will get to hold the precious surprise son that God is blessing our family with!

  1. I think that's the same part of the wall we visited. Cool! Unless they all have those slides. :)
