China Day 7

He is pretty cute, even when he is grumpy :(

Today was a long, hot, hard, educational,  impressive, crying filled day.

The Terracotta Warriors museum is about a one hour drive from the hotel. Mr. YuanYuan decided to pick this day to like his mommy and only want to be held, standing up, by said mommy. The good news here is that he wants me! He is starting to trust me and is giving me all of the good smiles and laughs. Other good news is he is actually getting a little stronger bc he can support some of his weight when being held. He's not so much like a floppy baby :) The hard part, is mommy's arms are killing her!!!

So after crying for about 30 minutes of the ride, we stopped at the Terracotta factory and got a lesson on how they make the replicas of the warriors. This was so interesting!

At the actual museum, we got to see three of the pits that have been either  partially or fully excavated. This was so worth the long trip there, but it was hot, and little man does not seem to do well in the heat.

JT did not get a decent nap when we got back this afternoon, so he was very grumpy and sad the whole evening. I think the day was just too much for him. Tomorrow we have decided to divide and conquer. My mom and I are going to stay back with little man at the hotel while the rest of the crew goes to the Xi'an City wall.

And after typing all of this up, my husband showed me a little "post" of his own that he was writing that sums up this long day. I think you all will enjoy hearing about our adventures from his perspective :)

  1. You are going to have to utilize that sling/carrier thing even though you will still be tired - your arms should do much better. I think letting him stay back with you all is a great idea. I am sure he is not used to going on field trips and may not have been used to being outside so much. And the heat doesn't sound like a good idea for him. Just bond and relax with him. It will be good for both of you!

  2. I'm sure all of you were worn out from the trek, but many good memories were added to all. Your plan to rest with JT will do you all good; those resting and those on the adventure, as well.

Go ahead and give John Thomas a special kiss from us. You know how much we try to distance ourselves from the little ones. Love you.
