Well our little man has been with us for one week today! I wish you all could personally witness the transformation that has and is taking place. When we first saw him sitting on that chair in the civil affairs office one week ago, Aaron and I both thought he was on the brink of death. In my mind were the words autism, hydrocephalus, cerebral palsy, and many other difficulties I was preparing myself for besides the obvious cyanosis. But today...oh my friends, today! Today, this little man knows love! He knows what it feels like to have someone rooting for him! He knows the caress of a mom and the playfulness of a dad. We are so in love with this little boy, the little boy we didn't even know we needed. Today, he became a Velcro baby...he decided to be more than 2 steps away from his mommy was torture. He has felt what it is like to have a mommy and he doesn't want it to get too far away. This is what every child needs.
Today was a free day for us. We spent the day exploring the area around our hotel, swimming in the pool, playing with JT, and playing cards in the room.
Tomorrow, well, tomorrow we become a family of 7! It is Julia day!!! We are so excited, and terrified at the same time :) This is going to rock her world and ours. But God is good, all the time, God is good. Please pray for all of us, but especially our new daughter as she will leave the comfortable place she knows to join a strange looking family who doesn't understand her. We leave the hotel around 1:30 tomorrow (Monday), so that is around 12:30 am Monday morning Alabama time. We will post an update and picture as soon as possible!
Love...brings tears to my eyes. So happy for all of you and super happy that JT now feels the difference that love makes.
ReplyDeleteWe read this post and Aaron's entry concerning the trip. Amidst the tears, choking, and utter humility in the presence of our Amazing God, we, in turn, rejoiced in the final outcome. Our hearts melted as we lived the events with you. I am sure Aunt Gail would love to get her arms around each of you and give you one of her famous Alabama hugs. Our love and continued prayers.
