I took Julia to the cardiologist again yesterday. He wanted to see her again to do another EKG, just to be certain that the atrial flutter she was in last time was not just a fluke. The test confirmed she IS still having the flutter. Her top chambers are beating about 40 times faster than her bottom chambers. So the plan is to start her on Coumadin on Monday. Coumadin is a heavy blood thinner that will prevent and/or dissolve any blood clots that she may have in her heart. She will be on this for about 6 weeks, and at the end of August, she will be admitted to the cath lab and the Dr.'s will perform a cardioversion on her heart, with the goal of getting her heart to beat normally and in sync.
We talked a lot about the risks. Dr. Romp understood my need to go to the "scary places". We are just not the parents we were a few weeks ago. We have been changed...and I needed to know everything that could happen. I am not terribly anxious, but my awareness of how fragile life really is now makes it harder to think about her undergoing any procedures and being on such a harsh drug. I appreciate your prayers for the next few weeks and I will try to update the blog to keep you all informed. I know you all have grown to love this beautiful smile...

Thank you so much for sharing!! Will be praying for y'all and your precious Julia!!!
