Our morning started out nice and relaxed, except for the fact that it began a few hours earlier than we would have liked. But an early start gave us plenty of time to enjoy our last big buffet breakfast.
After breakfast we fed the fish at the garden outside the hotel and then headed up to the rooms to organize and pack. We had a quick lunch and then actually had everything ready before the bell man even made it to our room. Well, everything went south from there, and looking back I think (and Didi reminded me) that this same thing happened when we left the previous hotel. Mrs. Julia started to get sad and grumpy. When this happens, she wants me, but she doesn't want me at the same time. So she says Mama, Mama, over and over and reaches for me, but pushes me away at the same time. We got a few pictures taken in the lobby but when I needed to talk to our guide about the paperwork she was giving me she just melted down. I needed to take her to the bathroom before the 3 hour van ride but she was so upset and I had to basically drag her. Aaron came to check on us bc he heard her making so much noise (he had been checking us out of the hotel) and when he picked her up to head back to the rest of the group she coughed and choked from crying so hard...and then she threw up all over herself and Aaron.
My husband, I was so proud of him. He kept his cool. He was so patient. He would admit this would likely not have been his normal reaction...but this sweet girl. She has our hearts. And we are so sad that she is heartbroken. Our Heavenly Father is giving us the patience and mercy that we need for each step.
The only good thing about her throwing up...was that she immediately stopped crying. I think she was shocked, and wondering how we were going to react. Hopefully, the calm, gentle response from her father was just what she needed to see to know that she is loved.
The van ride was uneventful. All of the kids slept at one point. Our little guy, JT, even showed off a bit and fed himself something for the very first time! This child, who couldn't sit up and didn't know what to do with his hands except stare at them, used his little pinchers and put puffs in his mouth! We were so proud of him! And as we cheered him on he did his little shake, which we call the "YuanYuan shake". I can't wait for you guys to witness the "YuanYuan shake" :)
We are staying at the same hotel that we stayed at over 4 years ago when we were in HK. We have to leave in the morning before their awesome breakfast buffet is open, but we were excited that they allowed all 10 of us to stay on the executive floor based on my Marriott level. This meant that we had access to the executive lounge...so yummy food and drinks this evening!
I will leave you with two pictures from the hotel lobby. Sorry the pictures have been lacking recently. Please continue to pray for us as we travel home in a few hours. Pray for patience for us, on time flights, sleeping, happy children, and stable oxygen levels for JT. I am telling myself this is a marathon. Although, I'm not sure that really helps me any bc I have never run a marathon! However, I know you have to take it one mile at a time :) And each of these miles will lead us to our "Sweet Home Alabama"
We can't wait!!!
